While not wanting to sound like an infomercial for Mayben Assistive Devices, it’s impossible not to want to share Rob’s passion for his desktop and what it allows for individuals with orthopedic, neuro-motor, sensory, and focus limitations.

Here are pictures of my student using her desktop desk. She finds it easier to use. We have recently readjusted the slant so that her hands don't get so tired. I like the edges because she can set things there, but also that items don't roll off. We have her sitting so that she is in a row like everyone else.

Of the four we received at the beginning of this school year, 3 are used by students in wheelchairs to improve work position/independence (for reading and writing), and the 4th is very helpful for a student with autism to hold his visual reminders/schedule, give him a bigger writing surface, allow him to sit or stand to work, and when angled up it provides a visual barrier to improve his concentration. They are well-liked by all using them.

We received the desktop desk today; and we are, as my husband said to tell you, "tickled to death" with it!! It fit Vince's desk perfectly, and everyone who saw it talked about how well thought-out the desk is... pure quality.
Thank you for your kindness to me and for your excitement about this product; it is well deserved.

Jon Drennan is a high school senior who also has CP. Jon’s mother Debbie says, “The desktop desk has given Jon a strong sense of empowerment and independence.” It can then be raised up and put an appropriate angle for when he has to use his mouth to write things down. For the first time, his writing is legible, and firm enough to go through triplicate legal documents. The desk can also be angled appropriately for Jon to use the keyboard, and still be able to see the monitor, again, with reduced back/neck discomfort for him. As we look forward to college, I know that the desktop desk will continue to serve him well. It is portable, so he can easily take it with him for continued use in his dorm room, and beyond. It is such a useful tool-and durable, easy to use- and it has made a difference in the life of my son.

I love my desktop desk. It is fun to write on and it’s perfect because my wheelchair goes underneath it anywhere in our house. My sister likes to color with me on my desktop and I used it for my science project when I had to graph results from my science experiment. Thank you for my Desktop.
Sarah Busansky, age 10
Sarah was thrilled when I brought home the desktop from a trade show. It gives us more flexibility around the house because it attaches to all of our tables and makes them instantly accessible. The surface is easy to write on and clean and it is very easy to fold and carry with us on trips. A great product!

The table, so easy to set up on a regular work table, went into immediate use with David, a 17 year old with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy. David had not been able to write or draw academically for many months due to an advancement of his disease. When he moved his electric wheelchair into place, and had his arms placed on the slanted table, he cried out, “Get me a pen! I want to Draw!”

Kudos to you for developing the desktop desk! Your desk has become a beneficial tool in my Algebra class. With the help of the desk, my student's vision of the problems we are working on improves dramatically. The strategic positioning of the desk allows her to see and be hands on with her math work.

So far it is a good addition to my desk and drawing table. I have bad fine dexterity in my right hand, writing hand, and because I can position this at virtually any angle, my writing is improved unbelievably. Ever since I had carpal tunnel surgery I have been losing the fine dexterity and fine motor control in the fingers of my right hand, my dominant hand. I adjusted the height and angle, got close to it, and I began practicing my signature. Shortly, I realized that the flare was back in my signature. So I got out a drawing pad, and once again to my surprise I had better control than drawing on a flat horizontal surface. The angle and the ability to get closed to the writing surface provided by the desktop desk made a real different. This is a simple polyurethane desk like tray, which facilitates better control than leaning over a desk, and losing the hand control you need to do any work. Simply, the desktop desk eliminates propping your work desk, dinning table, or other surface on 2x4 planks, or red bricks. I like it very much and it is worth looking into it for the home, office or school. Not all new inventions require micro-computing, some are just commonsensical appliances.
